Our Favourite High-Tech Skincare Treatments of 2024

Modern marvels in technology didn’t just improve our lives in terms of entertainment, transportation, education, science, etc. Advancements in technology also paved the way for better, more effective, high-impact, and low-downtime skincare treatments. Step aside Cleopatra and your bathtub of milk because 2024’s modern dermatological marvels are here. Check them out:

  1. Led light therapy – Since the discovery of LED-low light therapy, or LLLT, more and more skincare facilities have introduced this to clients because it is a highly effective and non-invasive procedure with fast-acting results. An LED face mask stimulates collagen production and at the same reduces inflammation and loosening of the skin. This procedure makes use of various light wavelengths to target specific skin issues like acne, wrinkles, skin pigmentation, dark spots, scarring, and dull-looking skin.
  2. Microneedling – This procedure has gained more and more popularity in the skincare industry, especially since it’s being debunked as a safe, accessible, and effective process. Though the name invokes fear because of the word “needle,” it’s been proven to be a safe procedure that only uses microneedles to treat the skin and encourage growth of collagen and skin tissue. This leads to smoother, younger, firmer, and even-looking skin that’s free of acne, dryness, and fine lines. This procedure is even used to get rid of stretch marks, scars, and sometimes even tattoos.
  3. Microdermabrasion – This treatment makes use of two standard methods: a diamond-tipped handpiece and crystal-dipped wand. When using the former, aestheticians or dermatologists exfoliate the skin to get rid of dead skin cells, allowing smoother and more radiant skin to shine. The latter makes use of microcrystals sprayed across the face, which are then vacuumed off to get rid of dead skin cells. More clients prefer diamond-tipped microdermabrasion since it has been found to be more precise and offers less downtime for clients. Who knew diamonds are great for jewellery AND skincare!
  4. Mesotherapy – This skincare therapy makes use of an injection of serums, vitamins, enzymes, hormones, and plant extracts to directly treat clients who suffer from different types of skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, dark spots and sunspots, and stretch marks. Mesotherapy is even used to treat cellulite and to contour the body to make it look slimmer and leaner. Clients can also immediately return to their normal skin activities without needing time to recover.
  5. Dermaplaning –A clean blade is used to carefully scrape off the top layer of dead skin cells, including any light facial hair. This is a much easier method. A lot of makeup enthusiasts and beauty vloggers swear by the effectiveness of this treatment and consider this a go-to routine prior to applying skincare products in the morning.

It’s amazing how technology has developed over the centuries and provided us with highly effective and less time-consuming skincare treatments. Gone are the days when we had to use goat’s milk to moisturise, flower pigments as eyeshadow, and itchy herbal treatments to cure acne. Today, beautiful and healthy skin is more accessible, more affordable, easily attainable, and available to anyone and everyone.
